Citrique Belge Tienen (CBT) produces citric acid for, among other things, soft drinks and the pharmaceutical sector. Respect for the environment in this is paramount. The company also decided to call upon the EQUANS teams to tackle the electrical part of its facilities. This includes the connection to a new combined heat and power unit, LED lighting, IoT sensors (Internet of Things), digital energy management system, etc. To reduce the CO2 footprint of the worldwide production of citric acid, EQUANS has developed a global solution that aligns perfectly with its ambitions.
Combined heat and power (CHP) unit under control
Our team designed an electrical system compatible with a consumption monitoring system for use with the new combined heat and power unit of Citrique Belge. Its purpose? Optimally manage energy production (heat and electricity combined). The study, followed by the installation, was implemented by specialised teams with extensive knowledge of industrial processes. Several renovations and capacity improvements were implemented to guarantee the most efficient use of energy.
70% energy saving
Our teams also tackled the lighting to further improve energy usage during the production process. Light distribution is now improved with an energy saving of 70% thanks to the integration of LED lighting in certain parts of the buildings, such as the fermentation room.
Energy management system
EQUANS installed a state-of-the-art energy management system to monitor energy performance. If you want to reduce the environmental impact of activities like that of Citrique Belge Tienen (CBT), you will need to continuously monitor the most energy-intensive production machines. The customer now has access to a complete mapping of their consumption thanks to the IoT sensors and the software implemented by our teams. CBT can now optimise the efficiency of its facilities and reduce its CO2 footprint at any time.
