Belgian energy and waste operator: OT security for critical infrastructure
Future‑proof security for critical infrastructure
A Belgian energy and waste operator manages critical installations for energy generation and waste processing. In an environment where any disruption has an immediate impact on safety and continuity, the organisation needed a stronger way to protect its OT environment against cyber threats. Equans implemented an integrated OT monitoring solution that delivers full visibility, faster threat detection and efficient incident handling, all without disrupting daily operations.
Reliable OT security for critical infrastructure
The client needed full visibility into all OT assets and data flows across a complex industrial environment. Early detection of vulnerabilities, abnormal behaviour and potential cyber threats was essential, without impacting operational processes. In addition, the organisation required OT‑specific incident analysis aligned with NIS2 expectations.
End‑to‑end OT monitoring built for operations
Equans implemented an integrated OT monitoring and incident response service. OT sensors and a cloud‑based platform provided detailed asset discovery and traffic mapping. Our analysts monitor alerts 24/7 using specialised OT detection logic and threat intelligence. Verified events are enriched with operational context, enabling the customer to fully understand potential impact. Targeted guidance supports safe and effective corrective actions, always aligned with operational constraints.
Higher resilience and faster incident response
The customer achieved 98% visibility across the OT environment, a 70% reduction in irrelevant alerts, and up to 50% faster MTTR. With a single, integrated security chain, detections are now translated into concrete, actionable insights, strengthening resilience without compromising operational continuity.
Frequently asked questions about cybersecurity
Do you have questions about our OT cybersecurity solutions? We are happy to help explain everything in a clear and straightforward way.
Other questions?
Our OT monitoring is fully non‑intrusive and passively connected to existing data flows. There is no impact on industrial processes or system availability, business continuity remains the top priority.
You gain full insight into assets, communications and anomalies, making risks visible earlier. This enables proactive intervention and supports NIS2 compliance.
Cyber threats target industrial environments around the clock. Our OT‑specialised analysts continuously monitor alerts, strengthening your team and significantly reducing response times.
OT incidents directly impact safety and operations. We enrich every confirmed alert with operational context, ensuring advice matches industrial realities.
Yes. OT monitoring and incident analysis strongly support NIS2 requirements for detection, reporting and risk management, a critical foundation for full compliance.
Organisations typically gain immediate visibility through asset and traffic mapping. Alert noise drops quickly, while MTTR improves within weeks or months.
Absolutely. The cloud platform and OT sensors are designed for distributed environments, offering central visibility and consistent detection across all sites.
