Equans reduces energy consumption at Rogier Tower by around 40%
Equans is actively contributing to the energy transition at Rogier Tower, the headquarters of Belfius, through the installation of an intelligent Building Management System (BMS), combined with our OptimiZ detection system for irregularities. The iconic 140-metre-high, 38-storey skyscraper in Brussels' North Quarter has been the workplace of our technical maintenance and energy management experts for more than 20 years.

What began as a traditional maintenance assignment developed into an in-depth collaboration focused on sustainable building management and energy savings. The installation of charging points for electric vehicles, the lighting of the “black room” for the art gallery, the maintenance of the sun blinds on the 6,000 windows, HVAC, sanitary installations, sprinklers, lighting... in a building with almost 93,000 m² of office space, there is no shortage of projects. Our colleagues are jacks of all trades.
Belfius wanted to go one step further in terms of energy savings. In a glass building with critical environments, such as a market hall and areas with cash machines, not everything was straightforward.

In the past, the outside temperature determined when the boilers or cooling systems were activated. Thanks to the controllers we have installed, it is now the temperature in the offices that controls the heating or cooling. The BMS is combined with Optimiz, a detection system developed by Equans that can detect even the smallest faults in the installation. A leaking tap? An abnormal temperature sensor? From now on, we can detect all faults immediately.
