EQUANS takes part in the creation of a green and environmentally friendly office building for the well-being of its users.
EQUANS has a long-standing relationship with BNP Paribas. Through an Integrated Facility Management contract, EQUANS has been looking after the technical installations and the comfort of the occupants of nearly 400 branches and 30 buildings of the banking institution for many years. When it decided to replace its head office with a new, greener and more modular building, it is no surprise that BNP Paribas saw EQUANS as their partner of choice. For this enormous building, located on Rue Montagne du Parc in the heart of Brussels, the bank entrusted us with the management of the electrical and air-conditioning installations with one goal: to reduce energy consumption as much as possible.
Flexible and efficient
Reducing energy demand, producing green energy locally and optimising the use of technology — BNP Paribas’ new head office is designed to be eco-friendly and highly efficient. In order to ensure that energy use and the well-being of the building’s users can be permanently controlled, we chose installations with the highest possible standards: 12,000 data connection points, redundancy of the fibre optic network, access control for 200 doors, 498 solar panels, LED lighting and centralised technical management. Everything has been thought through down to the last detail.

Seven times less energy use
In terms of HVAC equipment, the use of a Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) system is the most notable feature. This installation is made possible by the presence of a water table nearby. This will feed a 13,000 m³ water basin to conserve thermal energy. Thanks to this ingenious system, we will be able to meet the building’s heating and cooling needs and divide energy consumption by seven in comparison to the old building.
A pleasant working environment for 4,500 employees
Works began in November 2018 and will be completed in March 2021, when the bank’s 4,500 employees will return to their desks. New offices for a new way of working? This is certainly BNP Paribas’ ambition. With these new headquarters, the company has anticipated changes in building usage by creating a connected, efficient working environment that is perfectly integrated into its ecosystem.
